I awoke this morning grumpy and wondering why I was looking for sugar-fixes and chippie-fixes this week. And then it dawned on me... I was really grumpy, and I was really grumpy because I was really tired! That's when I remembered that a number of research studies have shown a lack of sleep may cause hormonal changes that can influence appetite. So how do we fix this problem?

Stress causes innumerable changes to the hormone levels in our bodies and this results in significant changes to the nutritional stores within our bodies, as supplies of fat and protein are mobilised and readied for use by our bodies. These are behind-the-scenes changes that we're really not aware of. Add to that the changes that occur to our eating behaviors as a result of stress and you begin to see what an impact stress can have on our overall nutritional status.
