Healthiest Choice: Butter or Margarine?

When I was a kid I slathered butter on my toast until it was dripping through the toast onto my lap. I loved the taste of butter and that was all that mattered. Nowadays a low-fat canola oil-based margarine is my spread of choice. Because taste isn't my number one consideration for a spread nowadays, rather the health giving properties are my primary concern. And that's where the debate begins, while some say margarine is better for our health others say butter is better. So which is it?
