Standard Serving Size for Grains

Enjoy plenty of wholegrain breads and cereals, brown rice, wholegrain pasta, fibre-rich breakfast cereals and other grain products. Aim for at least six servings each day of grains, following are standard serving sizes for different grain products:


  • 1 medium slice of bread
  • 1 muffin
  • 1 cup of cornflakes
  • 1/2 cup of muesli
  • 1/2 cup of cooked porridge or oatmeal
  • 1 cup of cooked pasta
  • 1 cup of cooked rice
  • 2 plain sweet biscuits


In order to get a good feel for quantities you may want to use kitchen measuring cups for serving your food in the short term.
