Standard Serving Size for Fruit

Enjoy plenty of fresh, frozen and tinned fruit in your diet. It's recommended that you aim for at least two servings each day of fruit, following are standard serving sizes for different types of fruit:


  • 1 medium apple, pear, banana or orange
  • 2 small apricots or plums
  • 1/2 cup of fresh fruit salad
  • 1/2 cup of stewed fruit
  • 1 cup of fruit juice
  • 2 tablespoons of dried fruit (e.g. raisins, sultanas, or dried apricots)


In order to get a good feel for quantities you may want to use kitchen measuring cups for serving your food in the short term.
